As professional wallpaper installers, we love our jobs. That’s because we get to see some of the coolest wallpaper installations out there. Here are seven of our favorites (including some whose owners you might recognize).
Wallpaper Installation in Lucy Liu’s Playroom
Lucy Liu partnered with One Kings Lane and Paintzen to redesign her son’s playroom in their Manhattan apartment. Once just a storage room for toys, it’s now a playroom for her son, Rockwell, and a living room for guests.
Lucy worked with One Kings Lane designer Nicole Fisher to choose a neutral, contemporary style. Paintzen made the style a reality by painting the walls in a cozy greige, similar to PPG’s Slate Pebble.
Paintzen also installed wallpaper on two of the walls. In muted blue and gray, the wallpaper pattern adds color and texture, providing contrast to the rest of the walls. It’s a great backdrop for cozy furniture, beautiful art, and charming kids’ toys.
A Kid’s Room Renovation for ScaryMommy
In 2018, Jill Smokler, creator and founder of mom blog Scary Mommy, moved into a new house with her three kids. Because they were still completing their kitchen and only had one bathroom at the time, Jill turned her attention to the kids’ rooms. “I wanted (them) to have their bedrooms feeling like home,” she said.
Lily, Jill’s 14-year-old daughter, received not just a paint job from Paintzen, but wallpaper installation, too. “Lily loved the idea of some accent wall but didn’t want any bright or strong colors,” said Jill. She picked this subtle marble wallpaper, which gives the room what her mom calls a “Fem Zen” vibe.
Jill Romine’s Home Office Gets New Wallpaper
When New York City-based interior designer, Jill Romine, wanted help from professional wallpaper installers on her home project, she turned to Paintzen.
The founder of JRID had never done wallpaper in her home before, although she sourced it regularly for clients. Using her samples, swatches ad design books as inspiration, Jill dressed up her home office with wallpaper that looks like a wall of books. Now, everyone in the house is happy.
Transforming A Luxury Bungalow in Southampton
Gabriela Gargano, the owner of Grisoro, expanded the floorplan while maintaining the ‘50s home’s integrity. Paintzen added color and interest with paint and wallpaper. Gargano used natural wood, clean lines, and soft curves to pull from French and Danish design to define this comfortable space.
The upstairs bedroom, with its many angles and surfaces, felt awkward and small at first. But a wallpaper installation on the walls and ceiling made the space feel unified.
The powder room went a bit more playful with a soft grey Ikat pattern that picked up the handmade floor tiles and provided a nice balance to the rustic oak vanity.
“I love wallpaper,” said Gargano. “It really transforms a room and is a great way to add visual interest.”
One Kings Lane Southampton’s Shop Gets an Update
When One Kings Lane, luxury furniture and design service, updated their Southampton shop, they called Paintzen for help. Paintzen has been involved in many projects in the area and helped create the shop’s vision of an old family home filled with antiques.
In one of the shop’s projects, Paintzen’s professional wallpaper installers added a lively orange-and-leaf print to the back of an unused closet. Now it serves as the perfect display space.
Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg’s Brooklyn Condo Makeover
Jamie Chung and her husband Bryan Greenberg, who married in 2015, recently purchased a condo in Brooklyn’s Fort Greene neighborhood.
The Lovecraft Country actress and the One Tree Hill alum made over their home, working with designers to create a “warm and timeless” aesthetic.
Chung’s favorite spot is the bedroom. While she wasn’t sure about the dark wallpaper at first, their designer talked her into it. “I’m so glad we did,” she said. “I love the darker aesthetic.”
An Exciting Wallpaper Installation Project at Hutch HQ’
In 2017, Hutch moved their offices. The space, under construction, when they leased it, was remodeled to fit their specs.
As a home away from home for its employees, this bright, airy space pays homage to the city, with each room inspired by an LA area, including Culver City, Echo Park, Venice, and downtown. Each space has a unique personality, but they work together cohesively. That includes two bathrooms, which Paintzen helped make over with their professional wallpaper installation service.
These spaces started white, with plain concrete floors. But with two entertaining wallpapers, they got a whole new look. “You can be extra in small bathroom spaces, and we definitely went for it,” said Hutch.
We know that hanging wallpaper can bring exciting patterns, textures, and style to your space. Without the proper tools or experience, though, a wallpaper project can be a nightmare.
